9 month RN visit

Oh boy, 9 months already. So nuts!  Anyway, the RN that has been seeing the girls once a month came again today.  With the girls being sick last month we were really interested to see how much they weighed. Not to mention I had some questions about Kenzington.

Oakley
19lbs 5oz
Down from her 19lbs 8oz last month.
She rolls all over the floor, picks up and puts everything possible in her mouth.
Just this last week she is getting the hang of standing up like her sister.
When we say her name she turns and smiles.
She is still sporting her stork bite on her forehead and seems to have longer hair than K.
Little miss dramatic as always is teething again and has finally cut her top right tooth and the one to the right of that.  Now in total 4 teeth.
She is our little motor boat and likes to blow bubbles.
Oakley is definitely a little more shy and quiet but also seems to soften up a little quicker and smile more often.
She is our cuddler and will always grab your face and pull you in or just simply lay on you and watch her sister be hyper.

Kenzington
19lbs 1oz
Up from her 18lbs 15oz last month.
Although she has rolled over before front to back, back to front.  Recently she has refused to do so and insists on simply standing or sitting up.
Miss K is all about trying new things and insists on doing it her self.
She has started to shake her head no and dance to herself.
When we call her name she also turns to see but with more of the look of "What?! I was busy."
Her hair is a little shorter than O's and seems to stick up in some of the most funny places.
She seems to be starting to get her upper right tooth as well but it hasn't cut yet and she is handling it much better than her big sister.
Just these past few days she has started to try and really talk.  When she sees a new thing in the room, like the vacuum for example, she will look at it screech and say "bubub" then look at us like she is wondering what it is.
Speaking of Vacuums she is afraid of loud noises and when I clean she gets scared and shakes..makes me so sad, lol.

Their eyes are still blue with specks of gold in the middle.
Both talk to each other and play with each other.  It seems to be a game how many times they can pass a toy back and forth.  At least they are sharing right?
When they talk and scream at each other the dogs whine, mostly Kiona like she can't stand it..we can't help but laugh.
My cat lives with their grandparents and when ever they see it we call it the "weird dog" so we are pretty sure they wont know that a cat is called a cat when they are older.
O is a mommys girl and K is a daddys girl.
Both are eating new things often, just recently we tried Cheerios and loved them :)
Their grandpa is naughty and gives them jello or ice cream when mom isn't looking.
They seem to attempt to say "milk" through signing but always at the wrong times.

The only things we are going to be working on is using a cushion to show them the kneeling/crawling position.  As well as getting Kenzlee comfortable with her tummy time again and rolling over.

OH happy day!

It came! It came!! I'm sure you read not too far back I won an amazin' giveaway!  Well it came in the mail yesterday!
*Jumps with joy*

I was so excited I had to try it on.
(Ignore bad lighting and horrible iPhone photos, ha ❦)

It's from Chrissy's shop at Whimsical Poppysmic.
She was such a doll through the whole process checking to make sure I got it in time and that I liked it.
It came all wrapped up in the most adorable wrapping.  Oh and meet my new little friend too..

Absolutely love it and want to say Thank you Chrissy for the great gift! :)
Everyone should pop on over to her shop and check out her cute goodies!

Well I'm off to do more homework and spend some time with my little family.
Busy busy week ahead!

Everyone have a great Stressless Sunday!

Snow day

This is outside my window today..

More snow!!  Normally I wouldn't complain and would be packing up to go snowboarding...normally.  Today though we are sticking inside.  The Rugby game against the rivaled, dreaded, even feared(?) BYU was cancelled. Which is good for me since my ankle right now is in no shape.  So, it will be in the near future we will face them and dominate!!...that's right..I went there because I have faith.

The girls are sporting their fresh and clean Fo-Hawks...

Whilst occasionally attacking each other....

The ninja monkey is sporting some comfy looking green and red Christmas socks while I sip my hot chocolate and attempt to catch up on some homework.  But am unfortunately getting distracted as he plays with the dogs and girls being way too cute in the process!

As many of you know I'm wanting a camera, well because we don't have one.  I have had to resort to using my iPhone camera since over a year or more.  So with tax season upon us I've been searching the classifieds for a used camera.  I've mostly been looking into a Canon Rebel XSi.  New they range $6-500, used I've seen as low as $420.  (With a 18-55 lens)  Problem is, if I do buy used I have NO IDEA what to be looking for in terms of wear and tear, what should be functioning correctly, etc.  Google has done little in helping me with this venture and I don't know as many camera experts as I wish I did.  Or I'm too shy to ask.  SO, if any of you readers out there know of some advice for this shopping endeavor please do not hesitate to tell me! <3

Also I cannot help but to mention how much I'm freaking out about next weekend!  The team is heading to San Diego for games Saturday and Sunday.  Do you realize I haven't been away from my girls for longer than a day.....EVER! (since they were born anyway)  I'm nervous, I wish they could come with but that's too long of a journey just for a few days.  Can I do it?  Honestly I don't know!  I hope so, I'm already nervous about how they will be and if they will need me while I'm gone.  RaWr!  Of course I trust their dad and know he will have plenty of helping hands...so why am I so worried?!?!

I hope everyone has a Super Happy Weekend!  To all those who can:
Snowboard, sled, ski, have a snowball fight...and remember..

It's a perdy world out there!

Just don't get eaten by the domo--

I'm no chef

I'm going to be honest here, I'm not a chef by any means.  I don't cook and choose not to learn, despite the many many cook books my mother has given me over the years.  That's bad I know!  One day I'm going to have to stray from this and actually learn some recipes.  On the other hand I love to bake.  I'm sure all you girls out there remember those Easy Bake Ovens!?  Oh boy did I love mine!  I love dough soo much I would end up eating most of it before it was baked! But mostly I love baking because some of my best memories with my mom when I was little was helping her make cookies or cinnamon rolls.
(By the way, I'm not bias or anything but my moms cinnamon rolls are WAY better than anyone else!)

In the future I really truly hope to make those memories with the twins.  Teach them the ways of eating dough and playing in the flour!

I just love that items are at the tips of our fingers these days thanks to the interweb!  I was just browsing and came across some really great cooking/baking items for kids:

This is something I totally wish I had now!  The Bakers Hat (ages 3-8)-

The Apron (You know your kiddies will look awesome in this, for girls of course ;)  )-

Or for the Boys (or girls too I guess)-

Now, I think my 2nd favorite part about baking with my mom was rolling the dough through the flour!  So much fun! Then cutting them out into crazy shapes!

Cookie Cutters (my favorites I've found)-

Well....You get the picture!  I'm excited!  It's going to give me some great reasons to get the girls interested in baking and having fun while making a huge mess!!

It's so hard not to anticipate the future and what great things are to come!

5 day energy anyone?

It's Monday and I just can't seem to catch up from how crazy last week and this past weekend was.
To put it simply, I'm exhausted!

While trying to catch up on homework today I couldn't help but think I'm lacking or slacking (what have you) on good blogging, yum yum, info.  Or something along those lines.  Looking in the past I used to write long posts about anything simply on my mind.  Maybe it's due to the lack of free time, hey, that's a great excuse yeah?

Anyway, this had made me wonder about trying and doing another 30 Days of Blogging.  Those are always fun and interesting and give you ideas for those days your brain is just too fried to come up with any!

hmm so we will see, maybe tonight I'll be able to ponder it enough to decide whether I want to or not....

Maybe..

*yawn* What a day!

It has been a long tiring day!  Woke up at 6am to leave for our first Rugby game today at SUU!  Boy was it freeeeeezing!  20 degrees with snow and wind...yes..I couldn't feel my toes, or face, or hands, or eyeballs.

Sadly after a long drive there and freezing to death we didn't win, BUT we made them bleed and let them know this new team with tiny players can show them who's boss!  GO UVU RUGBY!

The drive back was FUN :) we played the iPod game where someone would pick a song on the iPod, you'd put the headphones in and turned it up so loud you could only hear the music and not yourself..then you sang....LOUD!! LOL It was hilarious!  I strongly suggest this to people who have a long drive ahead of them and nothing to do!

Best part of the day!?

Coming home checking my blogger and finding out that I won my first giveaway!!!  From this adorable shop Whimsical Poppysmic!  that was shown to me by this awesome blogger Nicole from Sounds of Laughter Shades of Life.

This is my new prize!!

YAYAY!  I can't wait! :)  Thank you again Nicole!  And I will probably be purchasing from Chrissy's shop in the near future for more of her cute stuffs!

Anyway, it's been a great day and now it's time to retire by watching a movie, eating some otter pops, icing my legs and falling asleep.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

No banana

So I couldn't help but share this with my followers.  Many have already seen it on my Facebook, either way here it is again.  Ms. K was having lunch and I was giving them some banana rice crisp snacks, well she had eaten a couple bites and stopped..So I asked her if she wanted more..this is what she told me:

It was too cute!  She only did it when I asked her and would shut her mouth real tight but I don't know if she was even understanding what she was doing!

Anyway, this week has been a little busy, ever since Sunday, with school, play, practice, etc.  Practice last night was hard, painful, and fun.  We worked on some tackles and yes, I'm bruised!  Haha.  Saturday we have our first game at SUU and I'm a little freaked out!  Sadly the girls wont get to come to this game and it will just be me taking a day trip while they stay and play with dad.  But next game will be at home so they can come watch mommy get smashed!  YAY! :)

Lots of homework, resting, and fun ahead, since Ms. K seems to have some stomach bug we are hoping she is better by the weekend.  (They just have been steam rolled these past 30 days with sickness, poor things)

There has been a bit of drama lately that I'm happy to say we/I have decided to stay out of.  We were unfortunately brought into it unnecessarily  and in normal circumstances would stress about it, but we feel it's in our best interest to leave it be and focus on our lives.  Too many times have we tried to mend the fences to have it blown over, again.  I know it happens with everyone because we have heard so many stories and are thankful for some great advice from people who have gone through similar.

So with that said, here is to us growing, loving, playing and enjoying the next few months as a crazy ride!  Soon enough the girls will be 1...o.m.g...ONE!  At that time we'll have 2 crazy gremlins running around making us even more consumed than we already are! <3

Valentines Day

As the weekend kicked off with a hit, the girls in their pretty white dresses getting blessed and being little angles through the rest of the meeting.  Spending the rest of the day with family, friends, and loved ones.  I couldn't have asked for today to be much better.

Today we decided to skip the normal buying of things and we are writing letters to the ones we love.  I can't help but think how great this will be.  You don't need to be in a relationship to send your love to someone and it doesn't need to be done through candy kisses or long stemmed roses.  Words will last forever as long as they are kept close to the heart!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!

I just gotta

I don't know how many times I've talked about him, but he's on my mind often and the only one who has control of my heart (minus the gremlins).

With Valentines Day, or singles awareness day, approaching I can't help but think how lucky I am to be with him.  He makes me laugh, cry, say silly things, and every day he reminds me why I love him!
I know I'd be struggling so much more through life without him.  He completes me...wow..that.was.dorky!

I don't think I could thank him enough for supporting me through school and letting me start playing a sport again for "me time".  In 3 months time we will have been married 3 years.  It feels like it was just yesterday but so much has happened in those 3 years!

The most important thing I have to say is:

I'm a lucky chick

Just sayin'

Fav 5 Friday

1.  Buddha belly!
2.  Smell goods
3.  *sigh* not long now....
4.  Our next getaway
5.  dork

A little crazy!

I'm going to start this post out with a pictures of these two beauties.  (I know they are so recurring but can we resist?! I think not!)

(She looks a little crazy I know, haha)

In some very weird way these two bring peace into my life.  Much like my motorcycles did and still does.

Things have been a bit nuts around hurrr.  With both the girls going through their sick stages, Ms. O taking on the worst of it.  To school picking up, me joining the Womans Rugby Team, tax season, drama, planning the twins blessing...you get the picture.

All I can say is we have some amazing family and friends that have been helping us out through everything!  We are way too lucky! :)

The girls are starting to show signs of being out of the fog with their crud.  Ms. O still has a little congestion which in turn is causing her gag reflex to some what act up with her premature reflux she had making it a lot worse...lets just say some people may not understand the word "projectile" till they watch her have one of her fits!  Yeah, we have washed her bedding 3 times now, a couch cushion, not to mention several outfits.

Which is now going to lead me into my next story...this one makes me feel like I failed as a mother.  At least for last night! :)

I don't know how many times I've heard stories of moms/dads letting their little one roll off the couch, bed, changing table etc.  That it happens, they are strong and usually emerge unscaved.   Heck, Both the ninja and I have let Ms. O roll off the ottoman once each.  Unfortunately this new story doesn't involve Ms. K leveling out the playing field.  It again involves the little O.  As I was frantically calling my mom about one of O's fits last night I had her sitting on our table and I held her with my arm wrapped around  her back.

Now let me fist paint you a picture of our table.  It is not your normal 3ft tall dining room table  the general population owns.  It is about 5 ft or more tall-like those bar tables you see at Applebees.  :)

So, as I began to pick her up and move with her while still on the phone..she decided I guess in a fit of rage at how cruddy she felt.. that she would fling herself backwards.  Me, completely unsuspecting watched in horror as I see her rolling off and down my body spinning towards the hardwood floor.  As fast as I could (after a choice cuss word) I grabbed for her nighty dress, luckily catching her just in time and then stepping out my foot in hopes of cushioning the fall.  I still cannot get her scared to death squished face and curled body as she gradually hit the floor.  LUCKILY my attempts did work at causing her impact to be very minimal.  She came out more frightened than anything.
The excitement was so much she then again..proceeded to cover our floors with her 3pm feeding.  :/  I felt so horrible.  I couldn't help but tear up and pace across the house with her in my arms limp with exhaustion.

Will she remember this day and hate me for not keeping her safe?  Who knows, probably not!  But that does not stop me as the mom from feeling like I should have been better.

Alas, she began to smile and play as if nothing happened and we are now all better. :)

Like I said, it's been a little crazy.  My mind is on the fritz and my eyes feel like they may explode.

Another thing I enjoy seeing is the girls interacting with other kids.  We recently had some friends come over and stay the evening with their little one and despite how adorably small she was compared to the girls we had to get pictures of them together.

I am happy to say despite the sore muscles, no time for relaxation, sickies, the scaring of a moms ego, and the smell of gross in the house the past few days, we are all enjoying every minute of the mayhem!

Touchdown!

Austin will tell you the truth..I've never been too much into watching sports.  But I have also been behind the Packers, even when they fail. ;)

So to hear they made it to the Super Bowl I was all for watching this year.  I was glad I did too. It was a fun night filled with food, family, laughs and outbursts of anger at the refs!

Despite my player punching the opposing team in the face and causing a 15 yrd penalty.  They won!

It was a good game.

It was obvious that the girls were split on teams as K would squeal every time GB made good plays and O would do the opposite!  hehe.  At least that's what we kept telling ourselves.

This week is going to be busy but we're ready for it!  Hoping everyone had a great weekend and are ready to go for the week!

RaWr

Today I wont be doing 5 Fav Friday.  Unfortunately there is simply just too much to do!  Homework, clean, take care of the sickies, hopefully making it to my first UVU Womans Rugby practice tonight, and much more. :)

So on that note!

Everyone have a safe and fun Friday!

Super Bowl Weekend!  GO PACKERS!!! ;)

Getting through

As some of you have already seen from yesterdays post, little Ms. O is sick.  We are thinking it was caused by her sister having the croup a week or so back, but unfortunately Oakley got the worst of it.

They are certain it's bronchiolitis, with signs of it being RSV.  They didn't test her for it though considering they would be treated the same.

The last few days have been a little crazy and stressful.  Monday she was acting tired, coughing and mostly just laying around not wanting to participate in playing much.  Tuesday while I was in class I got a call from my mom who was watching them saying she needed to be seen right away.  She wasn't eating, sleeping, and her breathing was very labored.

So I left school early to come home and see her in such a condition it brought tears to my eyes.  She just looked so unhappy and miserable.  Their regular doctor had recently broke his leg and was going in for surgery so we had to schedule an appointment with another ped in the same office.

We took her in as soon as we could and as they checked her oxygen levels and monitored her for some time, they were certain she was going to need to be seen at the hospital.  Mostly to be suctioned in hopes of helping the situation but also because she is a preemie and these things escalate quicker for them.

It was hours of waiting before the hospitals pediatric and respiratory therapist were able to come and get her.  They finally came, and we were taken up to a room on the Mother Baby floor for her to be assessed and suctioned.  The pediatrician came in and pointed out her retracting stomach-something we saw when they were born and needed oxygen- as well as explaining her whining she was constantly doing.  They had a check list that would determine how severe she was.

The first assessment she was graded at a 5/6 which was moderate.  They then suctioned her-which was probably one of the things I have always hated see them go through.  Little was removed except for enough for the therapist to hear more clearly.  The second assessment after the suction she was graded a 7/8.  Which was severe.  Her stomach was retracting not only in one position but two, and her wheeze was no longer masked by the build up of mucus.  They decided to give her a albuterol treatment right there, afterwards trying to get her to drink some juice.
After the treatment she was assessed at a 6.  Back in the moderate range as well as she was able to get down about 2oz of liquid.  Their main concern was her being able to eat.  With treatments it was obvious improvement  and they didn't want to admit her unless absolutely necessary .

We were sent home 7 hours later from our leaving the house with a prescription for albuterol and a nebulizer.  With orders to watch her closely because of how border line she was, giving her treatment every 4 hours as needed.  As well as to get as much liquids down her as possible.  The great thing about having connections in the medical field was that she was seen by the doctor rather than just by the stand by suction lady who was just filling in.  The respiratory therapist also mentioned he recognized us and remembers them when they were in the NICU.  It was great to know we were in good hands.  They put orders to the day staff that if we were to come back in that they would make sure the doctor on the floor would check her.

The poor thing was exhausted and to our relief she slept the entire night, once we had her home in bed at 11:30pm.  The next day she was showing signs of improvement.
I gave her a morning treatment since she was not eating well and suctioned her the best I could.

I couldn't help but think how cute she was with her Bubbles the Fish mask which to me looked more like a dragon due to every time she would breath out the mist from the medicine would steam out the sides, like she was angry.

Luckily she started to show signs of being hungry and actually wanted to play with her toys.

She still took several naps and didn't move or eat as much as normal BUT it was better than before.
We took her in for a follow up Wednesday evening and were told she is still not in the clear and to be good about getting her to drink and if she is needing treatments more than every 2 hours or unable to breath with the treatments to bring her to the ER.

That night was pretty rough, she couldn't sleep and didn't lay down till nearly 11pm again.  Waking up at 4am needing a treatment.

They were going to be blessed this coming Sunday but that has been postponed until she is in good health, which will hopefully be within the next week or 2.

From what I'm hearing today while I'm at school she is doing much better than Tuesday but still unable to rest very well.  We are trying to keep things separated from her and her sister because Kenzington is still likely to catch the same thing.
Oh the stress and joys of being a parent.

I am just glad and thankful for all the support we have had from friends and family!  I love you all!
From sending your love and prayers to even dropping off some foods for the little one while we were at the hospital.  (Yes we were not expecting to go there and didn't have any formula or even enough wipes, lol)   Everyone has been great!

I ❤ it

I've recently found this really fun site that has some amazing photos for inspiration, fun, fashion, etc.  I will have to say I've been trolling this site all weekend and can't get over how amazing some of these pictures are.

Here are just a few of my favorites for the week from We❤it.com
